Eckert & Ziegler BEBIG is a European based group, active in the Medical Device segment of the Health Care sector. The core business of the company is the treatment of cancer by using brachytherapy.

Brachytherapy (Greek: brachy = short) is a form of radiotherapy that treats cancer by irradiation from a short distance. Two different forms of brachytherapy are used today: permanent and temporary brachytherapy. In permanent brachytherapy, a small radioactive source is implanted permanently into the body, while in temporary brachytherapy, the radioactive source is placed directly inside or close to the site of the tumour for a limited and defined period. Brachytherapy is commonly used to treat tumours in numerous body sites, such as the cervix, endometrium, prostate, breast, oesophagus, lung & bronchus, lip & oral cavity, as well as the eyes.

Eckert & Ziegler BEBIG is a full brachytherapy provider and the market leader for seed implantations in Europe. The product portfolio comprises the HDR afterloader, MultiSource®, the permanent prostate implants, so called seeds in loose (IsoSeed®) and stranded form (IsoCord®), as well as ophthalmic applicators for the treatment of eye tumours. The products and equipment provided by the company are intended for use by oncologists, radiologists, urologists and medical physicists.

The company headquarters are in Belgium, with a production facility in Germany and subsidiaries throughout Europe and in India. In addition, Eckert & Ziegler Bebig has a worldwide network of distributors and agents, to support the international marketing of its product line.
